Yes, the other night, I accidentally glued my eye closed.  Here’s what happened…

Make good stuff, then make it easy for people to buy it. There’s your anti-piracy plan.

My ARISIA Schedule!

Well, thanks to the generosity and awesomeness of friends, I’m going to be a panelist at ARISIA, one of Boston’s two fine Sci-fi cons, this weekend.  I’ll be arriving on Friday in the afternoon, and I’ll be leaving early Monday afternoon.  Here’s a schedule of panels that I’m scheduled to speak on:

Fri 7:00pm What Makes a Good Panel
    Fri 8:30pm Paneling 101: A Primer
Sat 1:00pm Monsters in Motion: Ray Harryhausen at Work
    Sat 2:30pm Steampunk and Costuming
Sun 11:30am Steampunk: Boom or Bust?
Sun 2:30pm Tea with Special Guests
Sun 7:00pm Flirt Like a Pro!
Mon 10:00am Star Wars at 35

(Sadly, I just got word that the Sunday Afternoon Tea was cancelled.  Which is a shame, as I was really looking forward to it.)

Anyway, I hope that if you’re in the area, you find a chance to come and say hi!

THE TWELVE DAYS OF GEEKMAS - DAY TWELVE, CHRISTMAS EVE!

Well, here we are at the end of the Twelve Days, it’s the day before Christmas, and I will end this year’s Geekmas with a video of one of my favorite Christmas-time songs…

A FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK, performed by The Pogues with Kirsty McColl (RIP)

I know a lot of you may be thinking “Well, THAT’S not very geeky!”  But that’s the great think about Geekmas… we each get to define what it means for each of us.  Kinda like the Holidays.  Or faith.  Or God.

Just a little something to think about.

To you and yours, Merry Geekmas, a happy Holiday Season, and hopes for a wonderful New Year for all of you.

THE TWELVE DAYS OF GEEKMAS! - DAY EIGHT! (HAPPY HANUKKAH!)

Geekmas is not a holiday for any one faith!  NO!  It’s a time for all of us to celebrate the joys of geekiness!

So, to all of my Jewish and Jewish-loving friends, please enjoy a Happy and Joyous Hanukkah!  And, as always…

MERRY GEEKMAS!  ;-)

A Geek Syllogism, or Proof that Yoda can kick the Balrog’s ass…

So, we all know that Yoda’s tough, right?  But is Yoda tough enough to take out the Balrog of Moria?  Yes, and here’s proof…

1. Yoda was able to kick Count Chocula’s (or whatever the hell his name was) ass in Attack of the Clones, right?

2. Christopher Lee, who played Count Chocula, was able to kick Gandalf’s ass in Lord Of The Rings, OK?  Just keep following me here…

3. Also in LOTR, Gandalf was able to kick the Balrog’s ass.

THEREFORE, in conclusion… Yoda can, indeed, kick the Balrog’s ass.

(This post brought to you by some strong cold medicines…)

PS… Also following this same line of reasoning, Yoda can also kick the asses of Dracula and Magneto.  I have no problem with that.

THE TWELVE DAYS OF GEEKMAS - DAY SIX!
I took this photo at a local big box store.  It’s the rack of “Holiday Themed” DVDs.  And, as you can see, nothing says Christmas like a movie about a man being TORTURED AND EXECUTED IN THE MOST GRAPHIC WAY POSSIBLE!
“One of these things is not like the others…”  :-)

THE TWELVE DAYS OF GEEKMAS - DAY FIVE!

A video from Algonquin College, where, during exam week, a flash mob began performing Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus”… led by Darth Vader in a Santa hat.  Why?  Because DARTH VADER IN A SANTA HAT CONDUCTING THE HALLELUJAH CHORUS, that’s why!
